So far this year the music scene has been quite disappointing. I resorted to listening to old favourites earlier in the year to tide me over until I found new sounds that would make me fall in love with music again. Here we are in May and good news – I’ve come across a lot of new music!
My ears have cried a sigh of relief and I’m sure the neighbours are thankful that something else is booming through the walls other than the soundtrack to my forgotten youth.
Some tracks have been discovered by binge watching old shows – so they’re not exactly new – others have come from YouTube and the vicious circle of playing “related videos” until you lose track of time and it’s suddenly 2am.
There’s a mixture of favourite songs right now stemming from urban hip-hop, independent unknowns and my all-time favourite chilled out mellow folk stuff.
Give me a follow on Spotify to keep up-to-date with my playlists as I add to them daily. But for now, here are just a few, fourteen to be exact, of many tracks that I’m playing right now.
NATALIE TAYLOR – SURRENDER
ERIC HUTCHINSON – ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME
MACKENZIE BOURG – HEARTBEAT
BEN HAZLEWOOD – PAINT ME BLACK (FEAT. MALI KOA HOOD)
KODALINE – THE ONE
AFRIKAN BOY – MR KUNTA KINTE
JUSTIN STONE – SPEECHLESS
HENDERSIN – WANNABE HAPPY
SHELTON HARRIS – FEEL IT NOW
TILLY AND THE WALL – POT KETTLE BLACK
THE CHAINSMOKERS – DON’T LET ME DOWN
CHRISTIAN BURGHADT – SAFE PLACE TO LAND
ANDRA DAY – RISE UP
CLAIRE GUERRESO – PLACEKEEPER
