BOSTON CELTICS – 70 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Vintage rebranding and commemorative magazine design for the upcoming 70-year anniversary of the Boston Celtics 2016/2017 season. This was a practical project undertaken as part of a masters degree at the University of Hertfordshire in 2016.

The aim of the practice module was to look at a keyword. I chose the word “vintage” and explored various different aspects of what the term means until I branched out into vintage sports design.

The first half of the module I looked at the rebranding of the Boston Celtics with a new logo that fitted the term vintage, and then applied this to recreate authentic ticket designs of the past. With tickets becoming obsolete in the digital age, creating a collectible for the modern day that had that vintage feeling is an area of vintage design that interests me most.

The branding was further explored with recreational merchandise in the form of snapbacks and iPhone cases.
